Bushcraft Kit List
All of our courses are held outdoors, and as such are subject to the variable British weather. With this in mind it is essential that all attendees must have the basic equipment requirements to attend our courses, as part of our terms and conditions.
Waterproofs: The wonderful British weather is likely to drop a shower or two, the nature of the courses that we provide mean that we continue rain or shine. The ability to stay dry is essential, especially in the cooler months. Good strong boots (walking types are excellent, and can be purchased from most good outdoor shops) or wellies are also a must in damp weather.
Suitable Clothing: Your clothing should be sturdy, warm and comfortable, comprising of several layers to allow maximum versatility, and need to be suitable for the outdoor activities we will be undertaking. Jeans are not very well suited to these kind of activities, due to them being cold, restrictive and very slow drying. Mute, natural colours will increase your chances of observing wildlife at close quarters. In cold weather bring a warm woollen hat and in warm weather we advise you to bring a sun hat or cap of some sort to help against sunburn / heatstroke.
Medication: We do have a comprehensive first aid kit at base camp. However, if you are required medically to take any form of medication, can you please bring enough to cover your stay (plus spare in case of any losses), in addition please make sure that these are in a clearly labeled waterproof container. If your condition is serious ie heart condition, type 1 or 2 diabetes, acute allergies, asthma. please let us know in confidence. We want you to be safe during your stay with us.
Cooking and Eating Equipment: The simple plastic or metal types purchased from outdoor shops are ideal, you should have the following: (if part of your course)
- Small water container (mineral water bottle)
- Knife, fork, spoon -or a ‘Spork’ and cooking spoon
- Cleaning kit for crockery and utensils
You will also need a small container of hand cleaning gel, which is paramount for your own hygiene and for the other attendees.
