Lighting a fire

Must Have

Waterproofs: As we all know, the wonderful British weather can be unpredictable, and with the nature of the courses that we provide means that we continue rain or shine, so be prepared for all weathers! The ability to stay dry is essential, especially in the colder months, so make sure you have a reliable set of waterproofs with you. Also, be sure to have suitable footwear – walking boots are recommended, ideally ones that will keep your feet warm and dry.

Suitable Clothing: Your clothing should be hard-wearing, warm and comfortable. We advise you go for several layers of clothing to allow maximum versatility, so you can add or take away layers depending on the conditions and activity, and they need to be suitable for the outdoor activities you will be doing.  Jeans are not recommended, as they can be cold, restrictive and very slow to dry. Outside of the summer months we recommend a woollen hat, and in warmer weather, we advise you to bring a sun hat or cap of some sort to help against sunburn/heatstroke.

Medication: We do have a comprehensive first aid kit in the woods with us. However, if you have medical needs that mean you need to take any form of medication, can you please bring enough to cover your stay (plus spare in case of any losses). In addition, please make sure that these are in a clearly labelled waterproof container. If your condition is serious ie heart condition, type 1 or 2 diabetes, acute allergies, asthma etc please let us know in confidence, just in case of emergencies. We want you to be safe during your course, and to get the most out of it!
