Primitive Bow, Arrow and Quiver Making Course – Level 3 NCFE Accredited
Join us in the woods for our brand new comprehensive 5 day Bow, Arrow and Quiver making course!
Starting with the raw materials, a tree, you will process the wood directly from source before moving on to each step needed to cleave, shape and craft your bow of choice – this could be either an English Longbow or a Flat Bow.
Using axes, draw knives and spoke shaves you will create a bow in the heart of the woodland, from its source to the finished product. As part of the process you will also be shown how to make the bow string for your bow – otherwise you just have a stick!
Once you have completed your handmade bow you will need something to shoot! So you will spend time making arrows using “Primitive” skills. Using real feathers, tendons and stone you will craft your arrows to match your bow’s draw length and your own shooting style to get the most out of your handmade bow.
Having completed your handcrafted bow and arrows, to complete your handmade creations, you will need something to carry them in, so you will then learn how to weave your very own quiver to store your arrows and carry them with you.
You will be guided through the process each step of the way by our experienced instructors, helping you to get the most from this fantastic process, and by the end of this 5 day course here in our deciduous woodland you will be shooting your own arrows with your own handcrafted bow!
This course takes place in our large woodland site on the edge of the New Forest, where you can enjoy sleeping out under your tarp/or tent and spend time around the campfire throughout your time in the woods. This is a self catered course, but tea & coffee will be provided.
