Designed by John and the team at Forest Fundamentals and field-tested in real woodland settings, the Wildway Bushcraft Carving Bib is a simple yet highly effective piece of carving kit. Built for spoon carvers, green woodworkers, and anyone working regularly with edged tools, it provides both protection and practicality without getting in the way of your craft.

The bib is handmade from two layers of 2 mm genuine cowhide leather, creating a durable, cushioned barrier between you and your work. When using powerful carving techniques such as the chest lever or when drawing the knife towards your body for controlled planing cuts, the bib protects your sternum and clothing while giving a stable surface to brace your workpiece. The doubled leather construction not only increases safety but also adds comfort during long carving sessions.

Sized slightly larger than standard carving bibs, it offers excellent coverage across the chest and can also be positioned on the thigh when working in seated carving positions. The leather is waxed for improved resistance to moisture, dirt, and everyday wear in the field, ensuring the bib remains reliable whether you are carving in the workshop, around the campfire, or deep in the woods.

Practicality is built into the design. An oversized pencil slot on the front easily accommodates both standard pencils and larger carpenter’s pencils, allowing you to quickly mark templates or sketch designs as you work. Between the two leather layers is a discreet storage space, ideal for keeping carving templates or small tools close at hand.

Suspended from a durable 550 paracord neck strap, the bib can be quickly adjusted using a fisherman’s knot, allowing it to sit comfortably at the right height for different carving styles and body positions.
